In this video we will join photographer Bella Kotak as we dive into the world of color theory, psychology, and analyse how colors have been used in works of art in years past.
We will cover how color is perceived, the effects and emotions in can invoke in us, and how using color consciously can add another level of craft and storytelling to your work.
This video serves as an introduction to Bella’s thought process when it comes to color grading her work. While it’s good to know the technical aspects of color grading, it’s equally as important to know why certain choices are made and how they can impact both the creator and the viewer. This video is an insight into that process.

In this video we will be focusing on color adjustments in Photoshop. This is an extremely powerful program that allows you really control and create any color palette you envision. This video is an introduction to Bella’s favourite color tools in Photoshop and it is probably the most technical of all the videos. Within it, we go into detail about what each adjustment does and the affects it had on an image.
Our goal is to introduce and invite you to learn more about the various color adjustments within the program so that when you are color toning your images you will have that knowledge and more importantly, that control to create any set of colors that you have in mind.

Actually….Bella’s approach is far from a trick. Her approach is easy to understand and will open many doors for folks like myself who may have struggled with colour in the past. I applied her techniques almost instantly with wonderful results. This old dog really did learn something new. Highly recommend this series!

Obviously passionate about the joy of Color As a serious photographer who has even run a Contemporary Photography Group fir 9 years And a passion for Photoshop. The course was a delight to follow and I encourage Bella to continue to provide more courses. Her understanding and skill in narrating this complex subject is highly commendable. I think the introduction psychology etc gave a good basis to build on. The interpretation of the masters gave added meaning. The final session was outstanding and the complexity of Photoshop was abele told, but I think this should be taken more slowly and more examples included. I was left with the feeling that I would need to repeat this session several times to really understand the subtleties of when to use the different Photoshop tools. However I feel that the course holds the answers as each tool was clearly and simply explained with no silly padding. I just want more examples to consolidate what is an outstanding course. Keep it up
NZI’ve found that The Colour Course is really helpful - I’ve learnt a heap, and really recommend it. Planning on purchasing the sister course shortly.
AUOverall, I think that the course was well made and I did learn a few things that I can implement with my own work. But, for the money, I was expecting something of ProEdu or CreativeLive caliber.
