Color Challenge: Green

  • July 2, 2020

Here are your favourite images from last week’s GREEN Color Challenge!

For our final challenge in this month of color challenges we are going to focus on the color of nature, life, and opulence.

Green is a tone that holds a wealth of meaning and symbolism and as such can evoke strong emotions. I’m excited to see how you’ve used this color to add another level of storytelling to your images!

Thank you to everyone who submitted their art!
Here are your favourite submissions from our Facebook groups!

It was one of my dreams to make a photoshoot with a bathtub. One day there was a neighbour of a neighbour (yeah, I live in the countryside) who had an old bathtub left over. I got the bathtub, dragged it into the forest with my boyfriend and tried to ignore the annoyed looks of my neighbours, who thought I wanted to bury bulky waste in the forest. Then I putted a lovely and really patient model in there and the magic happened. Of course we took the bathtub out of the forest again. The bathtub is standing actually in my basement compartment since then and is waiting for a repeated project. I already have so many ideas, only the time wasn’t there yet.

Green and me usually do not get along; But I forgot I made this self portrait a few years ago for my birthday with a bunch of greenery from a wedding I shot!

I don’t shoot much green, so sharing my most recent one. This was my first time doing an international collab. And it def opened my eyes to doing more with such amazing artists like Jo. After and before. All stock is from DeviantArt.

For this challenge I couldn’t think of any other picture that this one ! It was my second maternity picture and was pretty unfamiliar with it so it’s a perfect combination of my love for fairytale and the softness of a mom to be 🙂

For this week’s green theme I thought I’d share the collaboration I did with FYi Khoo last week! She shared this self portrait with me and I edited it. I post in the comments the original portrait and the edit before color toning. I used Midsummer’s Dream from The Royal Collection which brought it all together perfectly.

I must admit green isn’t a colour I tend to use a lot in my work, although it’s one of my favourite colours! There’s nothing I enjoy more than getting lost in a lush leafy forest and that’s what inspired this image created earlier this year. 🌿

Green… One of my favorite colors. The color I used so many times in my photos.
But this photo is something special to me… I have an addiction to mirrors, because of the stories they could tell you. Beautiful stories… sad stories… scary stories. Mirrors are more than a reflection of the person who looked in. Mirrors are the reflection of even more and only the person who is looking in, knows the story of the mirror.
And special thanks to lovely Nadine, who was so brave that day in the middle of the beautiful but muddy pond.

From last year, @Irene Illusia with make-up by Vixen’s Creations and incredible headpiece from fresh flowers by Divergent Flowers
This was so much fun, standing in the middle of the trees (surrounded by people walking their dogs..) trying to quickly glue all the flowers and moss and twigs on Irene.

Normally I hate green and I always change it to yellow or blue in photoshop 😀 but let’s try this from iceland for the green challenge 🙂
Of course we were very very VERY careful not to damage the moss! I always try to leave nature as it was before.

My Green challenge this week is so very dear to my heart. This self portrait was taken of my grandmother, my mother and myself in our backyard. My grandma has stage 6 dementia and has gone from taking care of all our family to depending on me and my mother to take care of her. It takes a kingdom of strong women to hold each other up! I used several Color Lab actions and tweaked to create this image.
Actions used: The Kiss and Sense & Sensuality (Romantic Collection)
by WinterWolf Studios
The green jewelry was designed by A Mon Seul Désir
Green dress designed by Gewandfantasien
Model/hair/makeup: Ai Tenshi Misha- Model
